The
security of the school SMS is now paramount as:
Numerous other
applications are dependent on the SMS for data.
Assessment now
can merge summative data from the SMS and (possibly) e-AsTTle with
reflective and formative data from the LMS and displays this merged
data on the LMS for parents/caregivers to view via the web on the
schools intranet.
E-Administration
projects now require the SMS to deliver base line data such as student
information and schooling records.
The SMS data is
becoming increasingly sophisticated and contains personal, legal and
academic information about students and their families.
Interoperability
of the SMS with the LMS, e-AsTTle and resources produced by the MoE
is now critical as data and resources need to move seamlessly from one
system to the other.
Students are now
working in a 24/7 teaching and learning environment and need access
to their portfolio, web site, resources, communication tools and school
intranet 24/7.
