As educators it is
important that we understand the mind and how it works. Much of our
understanding of the mind is based on how we interpret our own minds
and from the collective literature that we have read through the latter
half of last century. Much of this literature was based on qualitative
and subjective information (as is our interpretation of our own minds)
and much of it was wrong.
Although
we still know very little about how our minds work, each day we develop
a greater respect for its complexity and its capacity for thinking.
These two articles
look at how the brain works and how what we think we experience each
day may not be what we are really experiencing.
